The law firm of John F. Schutz, P.L. is pleased to announce that Mr. Schutz will be sworn in as President of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) on May 4, 2019.

The AAML was founded in 1962 in order to “promote the highest degree of professionalism and excellence” in family and marital law. In 1976 Florida AAML became a Provisional Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and in 1978 became a Charter Chapter.

Currently there are less than 80 family and marital law attorneys in Florida that have been granted fellowship in the AAML, representing the rigorous technical and ethical vetting process. AAML attorneys are experts in their field having advanced training and experience and have proven to be highly proficient in family law while being committed to maintaining excellence in their field of practice. AAML members operate under heightened ethical standards known as the Bounds of Advocacy, that impose a code of conduct beyond that required by The Florida Bar.   All applicants for fellowship must first be Board Certified in Marital and Family Law by The Florida Bar.

Mr. Schutz has represented clients in the Palm Beach County area for more than 25 years and is widely regarded as an expert in family and marital law. He is Board Certified in marital and family law by The Florida Bar, and Nationally Board Certified as a Family Trial Advocate through the NBTA. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), Mr. Schutz is committed to elevating the standards and improving the practice of family law.

In addition, Mr. Schutz is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. The IAFL is a worldwide association of practicing lawyers who are recognized by their peers as the most experienced and expert family law specialists in their respective countries. Florida Trend Magazine again named him one of its Legal Elite, which represents the top 2% of family law attorneys in the state of Florida as selected by other lawyers. He has been named a “Super Lawyer” for the last twelve years in a row.  Mr. Schutz is recognized by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America©

Mr. Schutz frequently lectures at continuing legal education seminars sponsored by The Florida Bar, and in his past role as a long-standing member of the Family Law Section Continuing Legal Education Committee, has produced many seminars on family law issues. He also was past Chair of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee (15D), investigating allegations of misconduct by other lawyers. Mr. Schutz continues to devote a portion of his practice to representing less fortunate clients referred to him by the local Legal Aid Society and the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children.

Mr. Schutz offers expertise across a broad range of practice areas, including divorce, mediation, collaborative law, alimony, child custody, child and spousal support and modification, as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and paternity cases.
