The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) was pleased to announce that John F. Schutz, of Schutz & White law firm, has successfully achieved Board Certification as a Family Trial Advocate through NBTA. Mr. Schutz joins a select number of family attorneys that have proven their commitment to bettering the legal profession by successfully completing the national board certification process to provide the consumer of legal services with an objective measure by which to choose qualified and experienced legal counsel.
The elaborate screening of credentials that all NBTA board certified attorneys must successfully complete includes: documentation of trial experience, judicial and peer references, documentation of participation in continuing legal education, evaluation of legal writing skills, report of all disciplinary matters brought before any official body, either public or confidential, for scrutiny by the NBTA Standards Committee, and the completion of approved lengthy examinations. NBTA members maintain active trial practices and are required to report their disciplinary status annually. Achieving NBTA certification confirms Mr. Schutz has exhibited a higher standard of professional conduct.
Mr. Schutz graduated from the Stetson University, College of Law in 1995 and focuses his practice exclusively on Family Law. In 1995, he was admitted to the practice of law in Florida. In 2003, he was Board Certified in Marital and Family Law by the Florida Bar. In 2008 he was accepted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and in 2009 the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IAML) accepted him as a Fellow. Mr. Schutz is named as a “Super Lawyer” for the past seven years and he is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Founded in 1977, the NBTA filled a substantial void in the legal profession by creating the first attorney certification program. NBTA was formed out of a strong conviction that both the legal profession and its clients would benefit from an organization designed specifically to create an objective set of standards illustrating an attorney’s experience and expertise in the practice of trial law. Mr. Schutz has successfully demonstrated a shared conviction through the completion of NBTA’s application process and qualifying prerequisite examinations.
